Higher Throughputs and Managed Services to Improve Brazil Connectivity

Intelsat, operator of one of the world’s largest integrated satellite and terrestrial networks and leading provider of inflight connectivity (IFC), announced today the expansion of Brazil-based infrastructure to Brazil and South America. In addition to meeting the growing demand for in-flight connectivity, the availability of the Intelsat CellBackhaul and FlexEnterprise platforms will offer cost-effective solutions that allow service providers to deliver voice and data services with better access to high-speed internet and mobile services to 30 million users.

Throughout 2023, Intelsat will collaborate with local satellite service providers to launch easier-to-use services for extending cellular networks and delivering more reliable high-speed enterprise connectivity. Additionally, Intelsat will build its fiber infrastructure in Brazil that integrates with its existing global IntelsatOne integrated terrestrial and satellite network. These services will be supported by Intelsat’s global network operations center, which has a local team and strong regional presence.

“Intelsat’s Brazilian customers now have a robust network infrastructure that allows customers to land voice and data traffic that meets government regulations and user performance expectations,” said Brian Jakins, GM and VP of Networks. “Key services like cellular backhaul and internet connectivity can now be more efficiently delivered to large regions that are otherwise difficult to reach.”

“Intelsat operations in Brazil will provide broadcasters and Pay TV programmers with connectivity to the IntelsatOne global network of satellites, teleports, and fiber allowing media customers access to new markets and services. Intelsat will offer managed services on the IS-14 C-band for the Brazilian cable market,” said Pascale Fromont, GM and VP of Media.
