Galaxy 35 (G-35) and Galaxy 36 (G-36) are the next satellites in Intelsat’s comprehensive Galaxy fleet refresh plan, a new generation of technology that will provide Intelsat Media customers in North America with contribution capacity to support high-profile events, such as professional wrestling, boxing, auto racing, golf, baseball, and collegiate and professional football. The satellites also offer in-orbit protection for select customers in the broadcast arc serving North America. With full C-band capabilities, these satellites are critical to Intelsat’s U.S. C-band clearing strategy.
The Maxar-manufactured Galaxy 35 and Galaxy 36 satellites launched aboard the Arianespace Ariane 5 rocket from the Guiana Space Center near Kourou, French Guiana at 3:30 p.m. EST on December 13, 2022.
Galaxy 35 separated from the vehicle at 3:57 p.m. EST, and Intelsat confirmed its signal acquisition at 4:11 p.m. EST. Galaxy 36 separated from the vehicle at 4:01 p.m. EST, and Intelsat confirmed its signal acquisition at 4:19 p.m. EST.
